After yesterday's hot and sticky afternoon I was very pleased to see a fine drizzle start at 6.45 a.m. this morning. This gradually got heavier but petered out by 9 a.m.

I then went out into the garden as the sun was breaking through the clouds and luxuriated in a mild 62F as I wandered down the garden to the veggie patch.

Having walked through clouds of butterflies (just a little bit of exaggeration) I arrived at the patch to see hundreds of happily buzzing bees around the runner bean flowers.

The birds were singing all around and, in the distance, I could hear the woodpeckers and pigeons merrily calling to their mates. A short time later, whilst I was cutting cabbages, a family of green woodpeckers arrived and started playing in the poplar trees at the bottom of the garden.

I then started picking the beans and the bees happily moved over for me as I went along. There was a sweet smell in the air of rain washed foliage and the soil steaming in the, now, bright sunshine.

By 10 a.m., as I strolled back, the temperature had reached a warm 70F and all the flowers had perked up after their early morning wash in the rain.

I shall now go out again with a nice cuppa and sit in the shade with Oscar on my lap :kittykiss: :dbgrtmb:

We too had the fine drizzle and a lot of mist this morning, after some quite heavy rain (very welcome) during the night. However, although the greyness was forecast to disperse and give us a lovely sunny afternoon, all we've had is half an hour of sun before the grey clouds rolled back. Still warm and muggy, though, but in the last hour normal conditions for here seem to be asserting themselves - that is, windy and really quite cool! The garden has had a lovely drink; now I want the warm sunshine back!

Nicely put and written, Shiney.:D I was there with you in my imagination. I sat out late last night in the garden. The humidity and heat brought out all the scents and smell of the flowers, shrubs and trees until it was thick in the air and it was magic.:hapfeet:
