So are there any garden centres in Tottenham then?

I think the suggestion that anyone found guilty of rioting and living in a Council house should be evicted is a good one.

Yes I agree Armandii, and I'm with clueless on the e-petition thing, it shouldn't be limited just to London. I guess its establising a principle and maybe it was started when the initial rioting was limited to London. If the e-petition gets to over 100,000 then parliament might debate it (it's over 79,000 now)

But Melinda, their communities, and the local police, know who their local villains are already. It's just that they have to put up with the thugs behaviour because they're back on the communities streets within hours of being arrested and hauled before a court. The fines and punishments are inadequate for these Thugs, and they know it, which is why they're grinning and doing it again, and again, and again.:gaagh::gaagh::gaagh:

Never mind the rioters, that's old news now. I got home from work today to find that somebody had thrown an egg at my front window. Filthy low life scrotes.

          Getting tough

          Looted 42" Plasma TV
          one days jail
as kept in cells overnight, released

          Arson set fire to Selfridges
          six weeks imprisonment suspended sentence

Stole three x-boxes and multi games
          £60 fine

Uni graduate hoping to be a lawyer stole BIG SCREEN TV from Comet
          six weeks suspended sentence

          It is a joke

EMILY Scotland Tax credits advisor stole identity of client
          claimed £90k over three years

Jailed two years, three months on remand only one year to serve , no pay back

£45k a year to watch tele have all washing done, full access to Education, Library, games, pool and snooker, all meals served, no work,

          That is some deterent

Due to retire in eight months, so if I knock £90k off I should be comfortable in my retirement home

Someone who lives on my road has been charged with handling stolen goods... embarrassing.

Although this sounds a nice idea I can see too many problems.

          Where do they go?

If it was a teenager from the household, does the whole family get thrown out?

Same question if it was an adult.

If there are young children in the family, do they get thrown out as well?

          If they're not jailed then,
if they're working they should have a large fine and the money taken from their wages before being paid.
If they're not working then they should do community service. How about them being put to work sorting out the millions of potholes in our roads. Unfortunately, we can't use them as the filling :heehee:

Yeah, it'd cause more problems, and there'd be more riots, too.

Say what you like about the riots, but they've provided our journalists with a great opportunity to pen a whole load of florid, overblown garbage.

This is Mary Riddell, who manages to cram all kinds of cultural references into her piece (how clever am I?) before coming out with this belter:

Watch the juvenile wrecking crews on the city streets and weep for all our futures. The “lost generation” is mustering for war.

Oh please. Most of these kids can't muster their way out of bed in the morning. They just saw that the police were weak and weren't going to prevent anyone from doing a bit of free late night shopping. Now that they've been threatened with plastic bullets and water cannons, I confidently predict that they'll spend the rest of the summer playing X-Box and getting off their heads.

I think that all the rioters should be made to live in the debris that they created which is then fenced off from the rest of society.. :heehee::yess:
