thats what makes gardening worthwhile .... well done!

loads of cabbages .... here's my fav recipe:

cut a cabbage in thin strips

place in a bowl, and add a lage onion that has been finely diced

in a bowl, mix 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil, juice of 1 fresh lemon, 1/2 a cup of modena vinegar, a heaped tablespoon of dijon french mustard, a bay leaf, salt and fresh ground pepper and a heaped tablespoon of dried oregano (crushed in the palm of your hand) ....

let this marinate stand for approx 2 hrs before pouring over the cabbage ... (so best to make this first)

pour the marinade over the raw cabbage/onion .... mix well and cover the bowl with clingwrap .... don't put in in the fridge .... every once in a while, give it a stir .... after approx 5 hrs, the marinade will have cooked/softened the cabbage ...

serve and put the left over in the fridge ...

Hi, what pest control do you use to get cabbages as good as that at this time of year.

Today's harvest basket from the Alottment.

Top left are some flat French beans, then a couple of yellow courgettes then a whole load of golden french beans. In the middle there is a summer squash, then a big italian courgette, a round Italian courgette then a swede. At the bottom there are another variety of French beans, then a couple of pound of Beetroot, then some Rainbow Chard.

        Yum!!
