Just a brief hello to the forum. My wife and I have been gardening for about 6 years - fortunate enough to have a south-facing, sloping garden, divided into a lawn&shrub area and a small 6-plot allotment area with a small greenhouse and miniature fruit trees/bushes. So we are "all-round gardeners", considering ourselves to still be relatively novice. We have far more questions than answers, expecting to learn a great deal from this forum!

Yes it is - 2nd year of them in our small front garden. Cheated though, as in not from seed. 1st year 2 blooms, and this year 3 blooms. My wife has greener fingers than me, and the flowers are more her department!

Will be happy to share info on what Hazel and I have had success in growing - fruit, veg, shrubs and flowers. Also can let you know what gardening places we know in the area. Have just posted some pics in our album.

Thanks for your comments. I'm reasonably organised because I'm lazy and hate wasting time and money. Lazy, because I hate spending ages looking for things, and then buying replacements for those things which inevitably turn up later (and too late)!

Our (Mine and Hazel's) favourite two places are:

Harrisons Nurseries, Shirebrook. A good old fashioned nursery which doesn't have a gift shop and cafe, but if you can grow it, they probably have it, and normally cheaper than anywhere else we know of!
Wards, Dronfield. They have a cafe which is inexpensive, and a "gifty shop" area, but 90% garden focused. We also save up our gardening vouchers (from birthdays, etc) and then buy our Xmas tree there each year.
Since we got our greenhouse (3rd year) we try and grow all our salad and veg from seeds. This year is "The year of the toms and courgettes". Doing reasonably with our runners, beetroots, turnips, and carrots. To early to decide how the parsnips, onions, leeks, brusells and sweetcorn will turn out. We are still experimenting each year.
