climbing problem

    I am growing black eyed susan from seed and have potted up small plants should i pinch them or let them grow since they are climbing plants .

    I've not grown Black Eyed Susan, but if they're anything like Morning Glory or Sweetpeas, they can get very leggy and stringy if not pinched out. I don't start Morning Glory indoors anymore, as they grow at the same rate (and better) when sown outdoors and later when it's warmer.

    Hopefully someone else will come up with a better answer though!

    pinch out i'd say you want more than one strong climbing stem.

    Funny because, i'd say dont bother pinching unless it gets too straggly, I fing they branch from the base naturally.

    My one reservation is that it might be a bit early, unless you have a frame of some kind that you can stick into the pot to grow it up for a while, as its going to be May before it will be totally safe outside.

    many thanks for replies i had sent for some young plants but i thought i would give them a try from seed it might be a bit early but i will look after them,thanks again.
