    Re:raspberry disease

Symptoms - cane splits in the lower part of the plant, also leaves turning yellow, then brown, then falling off. Leaves have black spots underneath which develop into holes.

Any ideas ? - does not seem t affect fruiting (so far anyway).

    Thx

Hi sorry to say but you have blight on your canes , it sa fungal disease , it can be spread by a insect as well but I forget what it is called .

You can spray but as I keep saying in other threads dont know what are stiil able to get your hands on , not all is lost ... you can improve the soil and growing conditions so lots of horse muck will help dont let so many canes grow so more air and light can get in to the plants the variety I think but would have to check is Julia ??? that has reasistance

    Re: Raspberry disease

Thanks - I thought something was up with them.

I think I'll leave them till end of year, cut below ground level around November time (burn the canes) and spray the new canes in Spring.

May also be worth trying the Julia variety as you suggest, although I seem to recall the pictured on is a Glen Moy which is supposed to be disease resistant.

We bought 10 canes back in May, put them in a bed & they all died within weeks, haven't a clue why?
