did anyone see Gardeners World last night BBC iPlayer - Gardeners' World: 2011/2012: Episode 19
an Organic gardener was growing potatoes under straw. Sounds great. If anyone has tried or has a bit of advice about it, i fancy trying this method next year.

Hi, I am going to try this next year myself, I used to grow potatoes on a farm for 20 years and I think it is a great idea, I have seen a video on you tube of someone who adds horse manure to the straw and he had a massive yield. The great thing is you can do this on rough ground as long as you lay down cardboard or newspaper as a weed barrier.

Found several spuds at the bottom of my leafmold bin that had grown without any halms.
