finally I see a couple of cucumbers on the plant, about 2cm long. A third one has been eaten by snails. What would you spread on the small cucumbers in order for snails to keep away?

poured chilly oil all over the two newborn cucumbers (I had no vaseline) and I am pretty sure that the slugs will not like the taste of that...:heehee::happydance:

(I just hope that the cucumbers will not suffer from it)

In my experience, the only way to truly deal with slugs and snails is to go outside after a rainstorm, and pick them off.I have tried everything, with limited success. This year,I have managed to acquire a frog in my garden, which seems to be keeping them down a bit.

Update on the cucumbers. The oil worked very well for a few days, but then the two small cucumbers got eaten, one completely and one partially, by the snails.
So I have decided to take the plant indoors.

So, as opposed to growing the little plant indoors and transplanting them outside, I am doing the other way round!:yess:

When I saw the title I thought it was a Directive.

What a great idea, I thought.

Unfortunately Miraflores has the same problem as me. :wallbang::wallbang:

Would a big notice work? Probably not.
