How bad for the health is drinking water rich in limescale?

I'm sure somebody, somewhere will have done a survey or research paper on all this, but speaking as someone with no medical knowledge, who's lived in a 'hard water' area all my life I'd say nothing to worry about.
Isn't calcium supposed to be good for you anyway? :)

Health wise the only problems it causes us is depression when we have to spend money to replace the washing machine/kettle every few years.
lots of bottled water comes from hard water areas and that is sold with heath benefits so all is good

Its a good way of getting calcium into your system.

I'd be more worried about all the other stuff in it.

All my Grandparents lived in hard water areas all their lives, when they died they were 87, 89, 90 and 98 respectively. Personally - I'm not worried about living with a bit of limescale and, when/if my arteries start to fur-up, I'll get them to stick Viakal in the drip. :heehee:

77 pence buys you a 2 litre bottle of Evian at Tesco ... or you could get one of those water filter jugs

I opt for Evian, but do occasionaly drink from the garden tap when it's hot and I'm sweaty, and I sometimes swallow tap water in the morning when I brush my teeth and I have a hangover

however, when I drink tea or coffee, the water is from the kitchen tap straight into the kettle

I have always lived in a softwater area , the supply comes straight from the lake district. And it tastes great  far better than the bottled water folks buy. I am sure one day everyone will wake up and realise we have been mugged by the silver screen advertising
I'll leave the final words to W.C. Fields................

I live in a soft water area too. No fluoride in ours either and perfect for drinking straight from the tap. Bottled water tastes 'dead' to me, ours has a slight 'zing' to it. :)

No problem in my first 18 formative years hard water in the North East
Then 22 years of salt water evap, then the past 24 soft water

First 18 lots of calcium for my bones and lots of Lead, not dead yet
22 years of salt water evap, not dead yet but maybe a slight green glow when out on a night (sludgemarine effect)
24 soft water, still got my teeth and strong bones, maybe due to the first 18 years of hard water
Hey maybe the slight green sludgemarine effect is less due to all the previous LEAD, or I would be brighter green :-)
