I phoned the doctors surgery on monday @ 8 am for an appointment. we have this set up in our surgery we must phone at 8am if we require an appointment. I was given an appointment for 08.30 am but i could not get my registered doctor it would be a Locum.

on arrival at the doctors i explained to the Locum my problem.it was a sore left knee with a tightening at the back of the knee. he sat down on the chair facing me,he then asked me to place my left leg onto his knees. he then started to press, twist, turn my leg ,repeatedly asking me "Is This Sore":rolleyespink:.

After a few minutes of twisting and turning he said " You have an abscess at the back of your leg behind the knee". I said thank you, pulled down my trouser leg, stood up and said.

"Sorry doctor that Abscess is not an Abscess that is an Insect bite i received in the garden last week".. I said goodbye and made a quick exit before he Referred me for an Amputation.

Went home, put on a leg support sock, knee now o.k. :dbgrtmb:.

Music, do you know for sure that it's an insect bite? It's just that it sounds a bit like a 'Baker's Cyst'. You haven't been overdoing it in the gym, have you? Anyway, glad you're feeling better.

Went to the hospital with broken ribs from domestic violence & got accused by a Doctor who could nearly speak English of fighting in the pub.

You're spot on with the Baker's cyst, Clara! An abscess behind the knee is like .... almost unheard of!

Those clegg bites are nasty this year. I've ended up at A & E 4 times so far because I keep taking a reaction to them. They swell up to around 2" in diameter with a blister the size of a 1p on top. Hope you're feeling better now :)

When I lived in Sheffield, I was lucky that my GP was excellent.

There wasn't much he didn't know, and was proper old school in his manner. He'd tell it like it is.

I once noticed some lumps right at the back of my tongue, and promptly made an appointment to see the doc.

I got there, showed him, and he had a little chuckled to himself. Then he casually said, "if nobody ever got ill, us GP's would still have enough work to keep us going, because at least a few times every week, someone else discovers that the back of the human tongue has lumps on it".

He then went on to draw my a sketch just to convince me.

Many Many Years Ago I visited my old doctor,in those days he sat at his desk with a packet of cigs on his desk. I had a lump at the back of my ear and i wanted to know what it was.
He examined the small lump at the back of my ear and said "i'm not quite sure what it is".
He then showed me a small lump at the back of His ear then he said " I have had this for years, never found out what it was ,its never bothered me,its just one of those things". " If You Find Out Let Me Know".

I had to look up clegg bite because I've never heard that before. I though maybe you had Nick Clegg chasing you around the garden on his hands and knees trying to bite the back of your legs........

have had bad toothache for a few days now ...

managed to get an appointment with the dentist earlier this week .... they allocated a 20min slot ....

no xrays were done, I walked out with a prescription for 2 tubes of special toothpaste for 'sensitive teeth' and was told if it does not help, I should book another appointment in a week

I still have constant toothache, and alarm bells should have rung when they told me the appointment was for 20min only .... so will make sure that I get a proper full session so that he can sort it

              ...check this link, top right
              http://www.dedosites.com/he.html

PS I seem to understand when you book an appointment at the dentist it is a "assessment" appointment which will be followed by a short or long appointment. The dentist cannot determine the lenght of the following appointment unless he sees how bad is the problem.

                I got better:)

I am now in pain though. A month ago I dropped a huge flowerpot on my right foot. That is nearly better thanks to Miraflores & her first aid:dbgrtmb:

On the mushrooming trip this afternoon I kicked a stump with my left foot:DOH:Don't think its broken but it hurts too much to touch. Going to be a hobbling week I think:DOH:

Sorry to hear about the Toothache Dim, thats no fun at all:(

Number one Son was told his Achilles tendon only had a 1.5cm tear and a only needed a cast. However with previous history on his other one he insisted on an operation and it was only during that procedure they discovered it was in fact completely ruptured!

                :mute:

                Anyway,today I gave his cast a make over:D
