I LOVE that last bit Aaron lol. All I need is a supply of free eggs...................hhhmmmm wonder where I could get those from if I lived near a certain someone I know.

A straight swap.........eggs for foxgloves lol.

Actually, I planted a perennial foxglove last summer...and it's survived!

SUCCESS!!!!! Well done Aaron. You'll soon have plenty, I am really pleased for you, I know how much you want them. Your peony should do really well this year-have you had a peek, you should be seeing little red plump shoots at the base now.

Speaking of perennials (sorry for slightly hijacking your thread Victoria!), I notice they are all very, very slow to emerge this year. There is growth, but not much and I am still waiting on some (like the Peony) to appear. Anyone else finding this?

Even considering the lateness of the spring I am surprised there aren 't any new plump burgundy coloured shoots at the base of the peonies, mine are showing through now and I am way up north. I don't remember, did you mulch? They might just be hiding underneath it just yet, but I am surprised they aren't there at this time tbh. My daffs are late to open-just starting now, along with the rest of the crocuses. I am seeing new growth at the moment-a huge drift of the bronze coloured lysimachia is showing too. I am sure it will catch up.

The peony I rescued last year, which looked dead all summer, is shooting up plump red pointy bits! Yay!

I am so pleased for you Vicki, I of course am looking forward to your pics of it this year-a deep burgundy red one isn't it? ( If I remember correctly).

Peonies, given the right treatment and circumstances, are as tough as old boots and very long lived.........o and the most breathtaking of all flowers.

I mulched quite a lot in December - using the old woodchips that I'd swept up and saved from the chicken's area. But a lot of stuff is slow this year. We've still no daffs blooming, although plenty of buds.

It's due to be 15'c here today so perhaps Spring has finally decided to make an appearance?

No frost again this morning, I am relatively temperate here behind a big hill so maybe I am lucky.
