Have a look (and read) of this slight variation of bean growing.

Roger's Cyber Home - Viewing beans

I'll have to try this next year I think. If my beans had not got so battered by wind, they would be producing again right now in this warmr weather.

I've been away for three weeks and my beans are now giant sized! I have collected them and taken out the beans as the pods are obviously too tough to eat now. Can I use the beans to produce plants for next year, if so, any idea how please?

Welcome WP, yes you can use those beans for new plants next year. Remove them from the pods and store in an envelope, label it and keep till next spring when you can sow them.
