I got up this morning and went and stood in the garden with a cup of tea as I do every morning, as I did I noticed 2 dead frogs on the patio, I wandered round the garden and found another 4 and throughout the day found another 5, there were also a couple over the fence!!!, that's at least 13 dead frogs that weren't there last night?, the thing they all had in common was that they'd either been slightly squashed or they had impact injuries as if they'd fallen from a height, there were no other wounds on them; oh and they were all more or less adult sized frogs. I'm lost , the only thing that ties in is a very heavy but brief shower last night just after dark, don't know if the two are connected???
Well, it could have been worse, Bilbo, you could have woken up with a cough and a frog in your throat.:D
Frog in the throat....had one for a while :D No badgers here, none that I know or have heard of anyway..got plenty of hedgehogs, foxes and squirrels.. No garden party last night, but funnily enough there was one (very loud (too loud)) held by the neighbours at the back on Saturday night, it went on to 1 in the morning when the police turned up to tell them to quiten things down..
This did cross my mind Dim, but I thought there may have been more and perhaps spread over more of the neighbourhood, perhaps they were I don't know?? The frogs I found weren't quite in as bad condition as those but very similar.....
Looks like its a Derbyshire thing. THE first time I remember encountering rain was in 1927. | This is Derbyshire
i was just going on the fact that our local badgers destroy everything else in our garden and also seen them "bouncing" on what i can only imagine are frogs :happydance:
My other half says, well it can rain cats and dogs, why not frogs! Seriously though, apparently such events are caused when a windstorm passes over a pond or lake teeming with frogs (excuse the pun), picking them up and dumping them elsewhere.
This thread brings back memories. I remember about 10 years ago walking around Moore nature reserve with my dad, and nothing but dead frogs. Thousands of them splattered everywhere even away from the roads and foot paths....
