Wow, what a lot of fantastic advice, I expected to come back and maybe have one response.

I considered Hunters but since they shifted the production from Scotland to the far east I've heard a lot of bad reviews about the quality of them having gone down hill and as such I'm reluctant to spend so much on them.

Will have a look at the links and investigate farming and angling suppliers.

    Thank you!

I am amazed how much welly boots cost these days
Last time I went to a 'footwear' shop, and noted that Hunters where £50-60 pound let alone all the coloured wellies you can buy too.
Luckily I have a green pair I have had for years and they are just as reliable as ever.

Living in Edinburgh, do you not have any neighbours, who work on the Oil Rigs, chicken farm or Egg farm
All can get free good quality work wear, on request
The rigger boots are very good, though not supple
The wellies well you have to have WHITE but excellent quality

Other than those cheap options then as advised earlier a farm supplier, working wellies rather than look alike
