Chiminea - what wood to burn

    Hi guys, we just had our chiminea arrive yesterday.
    Whats the best wood to burn?
    i know 2 tree surgeons so if i know i can ask them to put some aside for me!
    Got a nice chiminea from this website - patio chimineas

    We have had a Chiminea, for ages now, you can burn any wood on them. What i would say is that if you have one that allow you to cook food on them or if you are going to put a spud in tin foil and put it in the embers just make sure you dont burn any wood that has been treated or painted.

    Always remember that wood needs to dry out before burning (this takes a year or two). The only wood which will burn as cut is Ash. Softwoods tend to be resinous and the smoke would make your eyes water. Fruit woods are fragrant, Whitethorn (Hawthorn) burns very hot whilst Elm is best avoided as it burns very dull.
