Hanging baskets

This year I done my first hanging baskets and to be honest didnt look very pretty :o (the basket did but not the plants inside) however now I know what better plants to choose for next year.

I just want to know: what happens to hanging baskets in winter?
Do I empty them and store them till spring?

Fill them with Winter F|lowering Pansies and leave them out.
The plants are cheap enough from Nurseries (I got 5 packs for £10 last week - 30 plants ready to plant with flowers budded), Garden Centres and Supermarkets.
They will give colour until you are ready to plant your Summer displays.

I also highly recommended small variegated ivy's, heather, Heuchera, Hebe's (until they get bigger, then just put them in the garden:D)

 

I've always just put mine away over the winter. Do the winter pansies take much looking after? I'll be away from home a lot this winter...would they still be an option for me?

 

Yes winter pansy and violas pretty much look after themselves.

Yes an ideal option for you.

 

I'm going to try that, it might bring some much needed winter colour!
