i am very excited cos the local posh butcher has tried my beetroot chilli jam and wants ten jars to sell in his shop -- if there is demand he will put in a regular order

his daughter tried some at my house and asked to take a jar for her dad - i didnt know who he was so i was surprised when i got the offer (and secretly very pleased with myself)

the thing is - where can i get a dozen or so matching jam jars - cheap as poss so they look better than my mish mash of different jars

    thanks

Oh wow Loopy - that's great! What a compliment to you :)
Back in Canada I always used mason jars - but they were a whole lot cheaper than here. One thing you could do - our local butcher does it with baking dishes for pies etc., is get some nice ones, but people pay a deposit on the jar, and return the jar when they've finished the product? Might be a little more difficult with jam jars, but cost wise, a proper nice jar would certainly add to your cost. The butcher sells things like steak and kidney pie in a pie dish - you pay a £5 deposit on the dish and return it when you have baked and eaten the pie. Don't know if that might work?

    Well done Loopy Lou.
There's an advert at the top of the page for a company selling jam making equipment and jars. If you click on there you might find what you want.

Something worth thinking about is the price of cheap/value jam at the supermarket, this can be half the price of buying new jars..tthrow away the cheap jam..wash out pot, soak labels off.

    Steve...:)

My wife does this for her chutneys, she just makes a gingham cap, she also sterilizes them in the microwave using a babys bottle sterilizer, she uses different sized jars but uses the value honey ones as not too big or small (might add she is so tight Steve she keeps the decanted honey :dh:)

(and well done Loopy and yes I would love some lol!)
