can anyone identify this plant

    hello my gitlfriends son has planted this plant at school and we are lost as to what it is all i can say is it grew very quickly up to 6 inches in 4 days and now looks like the photos opposite, and the seed was about half inch and had a brown specked skin which broke away as the seed rooted and the seed under the skin was bright green.
