Turf not rooting

Four weeks ago we had our garden turfed and most of it is doing fine. But one corner that doesnt get as much direct sunshine has not rooted at all - you can peel back the turves and there is no white root coming through. The grass however is still growing on top and looks fine. Is this area just not suited to lawn or is there something we can do to save it? We have watered thoroughly so I dont think the problem is lack of water.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll give it some more time as you suggest. Actually SOME parts of it are trying to put down roots - just that others flap up as if they've just been laid....

Not yet gorwing any other plants there although we will backfill a wall beyond the lawn and in time will choose some ground cover - again, the problem is that it's shady (trees, fence etc)

We're both v inexperienced gardeners so on a big learning curve!!

Nothing else growing there Jack/Dai - it's part of the garden which used to be higher ground and we had it dug out to keep the lawn flat. So there are banks c.18" high round two sides of it but no planting yet. The soil is a wee bit stonier than elsewhere but the lawn layer thought it was ok. No other plants, trees etc in immediate vicinity but the fence and huge trees about 3-4m away give it the shade. Cheers Paws
