It's taken me 30 mins to change all the clocks downstairs, mainly because I had to find 3 instruction manuals to tell me how to change the cooker, microwave and radio. I've still got upstairs to do and the car.

The heated towel rail timer upstairs is so complicated I just leave it the same all year round.

    :o

I'd be better off by about 2 hours a year if we left the clocks alone.

Oh and as we were looking after the grandkids overnight we didn't benefit from the extra hour anyway, they just woke up at 6am as normal even though it was 5am :OUCH:

Leave the clocks alone and let the Scots do as they please.

Gererally it appears most want the clocks leaving alone.

But, do we stay on GMT or BST? or even BST+1, which would seem OK in the summer as most people miss a fair bit of daylight mid summer.

As for Scotland, they seem to be able to do most things these days different from Westminster, so I cant see why it would bother them.

Having lived for some years in Edinburgh I can say that the loss/gain of the hour does matter to many; however I agree with Pete, let them sort it out for themselves.

I happen to be in favour of the clocks going back as I regularly play golf early in the morning and it does help if it is light!

I'm perfectly happy with the present system, leave it alone!

I don't know the actual figures, but there must be many thousands who work outdoors exclusively such as gardeners, tree surgeons, builders etc.

Most of these occupations traditionally start work around 7-30/8am, thus avoiding the worst of rush hour, with the same applying at the end of the day.

Leave us on BST throughout the winter and this would become impossible, forcing many thousands more to travel to and from work during the peak rush hour periods.

In addition, I fail to see how keeping BST through the winter would reduce accident figures as some people claim. You are effectively moving the morning rush back by an hour, meaning everyone is on the road an hour earlier in the morning in mid-winter, when road conditions are likely to be at their most difficult.

So how will this reduce accidents?

as a gardener, I still don't fully understand the reasons and cannot fathom why farmers have to have the clocks pushed back and forward

start working when it's light enough ... and stop working when it's too dark .... no need to look at the watch/clock .... you will still work the same amount of hours per day irrespective of the time on the clock? ...

as for less accidents ... does not make sense either .... as one journey will be in dark irrespective ... and those who travel early to work, and who work till after 5pm will have 2 journeys in the dark

so don't see why farmers have to influence and confuse the whole international community (international companies who phone and do business in the UK), aswell as the local UK community .... just does not make sense to me?

Mrs shiney was going on about the wasted time changing the clocks - but I do that whilst she's still sleeping :heehee:.

Oscar the cat didn't change his clock and was sitting outside the back door waiting for his breakfast!

I see the Russians are having no truck with it this year, saying it upsets peoples body clocks & causes stress.

Its a pain when you are contracted to be on site till 5pm in the winter.
