On a more positive note guys, I think it a good thing that Simon Cowel is injecting some new blood into the pop scene, you would be surprised at the inbreeding that was gripping the "cash cow" world of pop.

Good example "Sophie Ellis Baxter" whos mum was a Blue Peter presenter. How do you think she would have faired if mum had not made a few phone calls.

I work for a young couple .... he is a proffessor of some sorts at a university at Cambridge .... think she is a linguistics translator but is also a soprano singer at some cathederals/churches

they have no TV, no Radio, never read newspapers .... but are into classical music which is played non-stop (evertyime I've worked there)

strange, but they seem very happy

I'd be lost without a TV (news especially in the mornings and I watch the occasional rugby/cricket match if I have time) I even watch x-factor and big brother ....'celebrity jungle get me out of here' is one of my favourites!

I have this sneaky feeling that if everyone on GC gathered in front of a TV screen to watch/criticise X Factor, Celebrity, Big Brother et al we'd have a whale of a time :hapfeet:

I watch x-factor - we all do where i work. So, it is good for Monday morning chatter. Disappointed The Risk are out - hoped Frankie would go... I like Marcus mostly and the girlband are more interesting. I don't see a pop star in any of them this time round.

However, i just watch it, don't take it too seriously and don't watch Big Brother (used to watch, til it went crazy) or Celebrity Get me Out of Here, just the x-factor and liked that better with Simon Cowell. :)

I did watch the news, but that was all bad anyway. The rest wasn't worth paying the licence for!

When our television went we got a phone call from the licence office saying they would probably call on us to check we hadn't got a tv. Now, bearing in mind they would have to travel to the island, my husband said are you going to pay our extortionate fares to get here just to check, I don't think so!

We haven't seen them yet nearly a year on and I don't suppose we will. :)
