    Yes, that's true.

Both my friend and I were Tiscali subscribers, I was very wary about the new offers from TalkTalk and have not responded to them. I also warned him not to sign up. It turns out I was right, many people who signed up have found that they are now tied into an 18 month contract and cannot go elsewhere. I am still free to migrate to another ISP if I wish to.

The better rate going all electric does not take into account the fact that I have not had to replace the Propane boiler which was nearly thirty years old.

The only way to compare gas/electric prices I've found is by using an Excel spread sheet.

You need to know your exact annual gas and leccy consumption and if you're on day/night electric tariff, how much you use at night.

Then you have to find your tariff with your supplier (not always that simple).

Then you have to make the calculations comparing yours with other suppliers. Some of the tariffs on their website are often no longer available.
As every supplier has a different "first usage" rate and cut off point, it's quite a complicated calculation for some.
They are designed that way to confuse people so dissuade them from changing.

Dog, you are right - you need to compare & I'm an Excel lover (sad!) But how many people can be bothered to do all that? It's not being lazy, it's expecting the best. Which as we know doesn't happen. One of the reasons I love being on here is because you get so much info, much more than sitting at home, so to speak.

Thank you all for input. Just to say I think moneysavingexpert.com is pretty good, it's not paid for & Martin is a good bloke:) You do have to spend some time but it saves you money in the end.

What do I really think? I hate the way we get ripped off. Will it stop? No, don't think so no matter what government we have. Want to keep thinking we're 'Great Britain'......oh.

Sorry if that sounded deppresive. cheers

    cheers
