Am I the only one who find Eastenders incredibly depressing. No stories about families, having normal, everyday lives just getting on with life, without someone getting murdered, raped, kidnapped, having an affair or having a teenage pregnancy (have I left anything out?). There are families in Britain who do have those sorts of lives you know...although that doesn't really make a very good soap story!

And why does no one in Eastenders work outside of Albert Square...perhaps in the West End or Docklands? It has a tube station, unlike many areas of London that don't and people there manage to work out of the area. The East End of London is no longer like that (it probably wasn't like it 25 years ago either). The only area that it remotely resembles would be Silvertown. I was last there five years ago when it was starting to regenerate so I imagine now, with the arrival of the DLR it's changed a lot.

Where are the immigrants who have moved into that area - Eastern Europeans, illegal immigrants and asylum seekers?

Why are most of those in Albert Square able to afford Victorian houses in London, yet still can't afford a washing machine and have to use the laundrette?

Finally, why hasn't the Queen Vic been sold by the brewery, closed down, turned in luxury apartments or been converted into a gastropub, like most pubs in Britain?

As for the acting last night - talk about hammy and over blown. Very obvious they were acting up for live TV.

Yes, I did watch it...mainly to see how they'd do with it being live.

Yes, the fact I know so much about it but dislike it has not escaped me!

It's part of the British pysche soI think we all know about it to some extent...and I did watch it years ago, about the time the Slater Family arrived and there was the story about child abuse, teenage pregnancy and incest...

It has been so long since I last watched it-Mark Fowler was in it ( always had a crush on him since Tucker Jenkins's days at Grange Hill). When my friend came round the other night and asked to watch it because she wanted to know who killed Archie, I had to ask who Archie was.................she looked at me like I had just beamed down from the mother ship.

:) It always amazes me that no one ADMITS to watching certain soaps, but when the conversation arises people know SO much about them.
Come on guys "COME OUT" and admit you watch them, you will feel so much better lol:okies:....

The ONLY soap we watch is Desperate Housewives on a Wednesday night. :gnthb: Is that technically a 'soap'? :cnfs:

Oh dear, I don't watch those two either. The only thing I watch really is Lost, and I was quite taken with the new Battlestar Galactica when it was on. Telly irritates me really-having said that I am currently watching a rerun of Dynasty whilst doing the ironing lol.

Each to their own ... it would be horrendous if we all liked the same thing. I hate soaps but love travel, animal and criminal investigation programmes.

I don't necessarily watch gardening programmes because so far they have not taught me anything I need to know. :o:help::hehe:

Oh, what station is that on? I used to LOVE Dynasty - sleazy, glamourous, very silly, dead camp and great fun!

i usually watch it with my daughter - it makes for great mum daughter analysis of peoples behaviour lol
