Well done Folly Mon, thats the true spirit of Christmas.

We have our 3 kids plus their partners and 2 grandkids staying with us on Christmas eve and the other grandad over from holland, on his own as oma (dutch for grandma) sadly passed on. I'll get up at 6 to put the turkey on then it will be stocking opening starting with the little ones. The older ones take a bit longer to get up and showered so it's usually mid morning before everyone appears. During the day we take it in turns to walk to the in-laws who are now house bound. So they will get turkey dinners ferried to them at midday with as much fresh veg as I can find in the garden, parsnips, carrots, onions and sprouts.

Hopefully one of the kids will get a new board game for us all to play. Tea will be cold meats, salad and pickles.

No TV, a surfeit of tea, not enough exercise and too many sweets.

    :yay:

Don't know what to do for Christmas now? Daughter #1 isn't coming down from Bristol, Daughter #2 doesn't want to go to Sis's, the boy has gone off with his mates so I either stay here in a Christmasless house with evil wife or go off down Sis's but be without Daughter #2 for Christmas:(

Well done all those husbands who are cooking the Christmas dinner. OH is wonderful in many ways, but I left things up to him he'd go through the 'phone book and look up a takeaway. He'd track down the only one which was open for deliveries on the big day, as well. Still, he's not as bad as his dad. Years ago, having spent the entire morning with his feet up while others scurried to and fro doing the food, f-i-l finally managed to struggle over to the dining table to fill his face. 'Oh', m-i-l said mildly, 'you haven't brought in the wine'. 'For heaven's sake! Do I have to do everything around here,' snapped f-i-l, brimming with festive cheer. :heehee:

Well done Follyman for your courage in what you are doing - a good friend of mine went through a similar experience more than 20 years ago and is still going strong without a drink.

Xmas here is with children and wife - we have not been blessed with any grandkids. Full English breakfast with a couple of glasses of bubbly will set me up for a peaceful if exhausting day of eating, drinking and dog walking.......

Best wishes to one and all at GC for the season of goodwill and good health........
