.....10,000 saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they outdid the sparkling waves with glee,

a poet could not but be gay, in such a jocund company.

I gazed and gazed but little thought, what wealth to me the show had brought.

For oft when on my couch I lye in vacant or in pensive mood, I flash upon that inward eye, which is the bliss of solitude.

And then my heart with pleasure fills and wanders with the Daffodils.

        Is that from Mr Wordsworth?

I'm not a very cultured chappy, but I seem to recall something about daffodils and words as flowery as the scene described.

Thats right Dave, William Wordworth's Daffodils. It was Dai saying 10,000 that set me off:DOH:

Sorry if its wrong, that was from memory after a bottle of wine.

        How's this Ziggy?

Forty thousand headmen couldn't make me change my mind
If I had to take the choice between the deafman and the blind
I know just where my feet should go and that's enough for me
I turned around and knocked them down and walked across the sea

Ahh, I do that too, still, no eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.

Well remembered, Ziggy, even though you were in your cups :dbgrtmb:

This sometimes pops into my mind when I look out into the garden.

The birds around me hopped and played,
          Their thoughts I cannot measure:--
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

            Nice one Shiney.

Couldn't get the start right though,

It's better than the end of that one:-

Sorry to lower the tone, but I do wish the birds would stop making motions on my conservatory roof. It doesn't give me a thrill of pleasure.
