Planted some kale plants for the first time earlier in the year, and I am still enjoying them. I purchased them at a local Garden Centre and they seem to be the Dwarf Green variety. Next year I hope to grow my own, any recommended varieties? :)

Russian Red has been really productive for me this year. 5 plants kept us in greens over the summer and autumn. A couple of later sown plants are growing strong now as back up should the first 5 ever stop growing.

I used to grow green, curly kale years ago, but then there only appeared to be seeds for dwarf green kale available - where are seeds for large green curly kale available from?

Another variety worth growing is Pentland Brig kale which has slighly less curly leaves and you can also eat the flower shoots before they open like PSB.

I tried Sutherland last year. It seems to be okay, good flavour, and better to look at and harvest now there aren't so many pests around. I like the flavour, not too strong to my mind ie not bitter.
