hi all. you would say am a bit of a beginner at this so please bare with me.

have recentlly bought some propergators and was thinkning of sowing some pansy seeds just for a experiment ,the seeds havent cost me anything by the way.

i was thikning of sowing the seeds inside and then moving the plug plants to my plastic greenhouse (also a latest investment) but the question is do you think thet will survive if we get some cold weather, also i have some chillies aswell , basically just to get things started as i am a bit eager to get gowing , thanks in advance ,chris.

    Hi noksucow ,
I`m persolly would say no , even if outside it look like spring already....my best advise is wait untill the 1st of March , as many seeds need warm and light to grow ....
plus if your propagators it`s electric the seedling will get a shock and dye anyway , they need to get slowly acclimate outdoor.
If you really want to taste your seeds just try with few seeds and see what appen pansy usually germinate in 10/20 days.

I'd go with Sal on this one, N. It's probably a little bit early to sow yet even with propagators. I think everyone is anxious for the Spring to come, even the most "hardened" gardeners get a bit optimistic and sow too early. While your seeds will germinate the light conditions are to low to give you healthy bushy plants and you'd probably end up with spindly weak plants. Take a big breath, step back and divert yourself with other things...........that's what I have to do.:heehee::D

The best think to do is reading the growing information on the packet.
What I do is growing my plants indoor in March (window chill or propagator) move them in my greenhouse when they big enough (usually end mid April) and plant in place in Mid/end May .
If you start your seeds now , you will just heading to a failure ....gardening is shoul be enjoyment .
Start some long term project (many plants take 3/4 months germination)
learn how to sterilize potting ready for seedling
In Jenuary there lots of sale going on...buy your seed or swap them on website
get a list of plant that can be propagated by cutting and trade some cutting and when start to propagate.
    there`s lots to do .
