I used to have a link to a website on my old computer (which crashed)

was a site of a guy who won a few gold medals at the chelsea flowers shows ... he listed all the plants/shrubs and had his own score (0-10) .... there was loads of geraniums with very detailed info

I cannot find that site now

I guess that's why we love gardening and the variety of plants there are for us to drool over, because it all comes down to personal choice and taste. I love blue geraniums as well as white ones, but I just can't get excited over pink ones. I guess it might be due to the fact that I like strong colours and most of the pink geraniums are, to me, weak in colour.:D I certainly wouldn't have scored so low a mark for a beautiful geranium as "Johnstons Blue".:D

trick is to plant blue ones aswell as pink ones, ... close together so that the 2 colours contrast each other .... another nice blue one is Buxtons blue .... flowers for very long aswell

as for Bob Brown, if you are looking at planting something, check his site first .... if he scores it a 9 or 10, research further

I have never been let down with his recomendations

        :)

Know what you mean about the pinks ARMANDII, my favourite has to be psilostemon, given to me by my Dad many years ago and still my favourite, 3ft tall, love it, thought I had a better picture than this but can't find it

dim your link to bob the geranium master is brilliant it's a shame other growers don't do such a simple idea.
oh and geranium clarkei kashmir white floats my boat even though it has a short flowering period

I've only just come across this thread...catch up woman!

As someone who has made 50 mile detours to visit Bob's nursery when, 'passing', I really rate his scoring. Once or twice, when he's rated something a lot lower than I would have done I've asked him why. Now I've never asked about Johnsons Blue, but bet it'll be for something to do with how the plant performs over all, rather than just the stunning flowers?

I'm thinking along the lines of the fact that I love this geranium, but it does tend to flop especially in dry weather and actually Geranium 'Brookside' AGM (G.pratense x G.clarkei 'Kashmir Purple') is almost the same but better! It doesn't flop and flowers May to November.

I do some gardening at Stillingfleet Lodge once a week, we have over 100 different geraniums there. Actually, I've just looked at the catalogue for this year and there are over 100 listed for sale. I don't have anything to do with the nursery side, but am pretty sure she doesn't do mail order.

Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens York - home there's a catalogue tab on the home page.

Armandii, I know what you mean about some of the pink geraniums..but take a look at Geranium 'Dragon Heart' !! It does need to grow through other stuff as it doesn't stand up well, much as G psilostemon I suppose - but has big magenta flowers. Lovely!

This is my favourite geranium, sent to me by a friend as a tiny plant she'd grown from seed, it was supposed to be Splish Splash but apparently some of the seedlings can be either plain white or lilac,it gets to 2-3ft, love it:love30:

How sad it is that I live... on the dark side of the moon. :D
I love your geraniums and I have a Johnsons Blue which comes with the name. It's new to me, I'll have to wait until it matures.

Simbad, I've never seen Lysimachia 'Alexander' and it looks great! I'll post your picture on two Bulgarian forums in a desparate effort to find it (as the search engines produced no result...) :cry3:

If I fail, I'll come and bribe you with hemerocallis varieties. (Daylilies will be one of my 'heaviest investments' for this season, but I still keep silent about it). :D
