Shed really needs sorting out. Today found some a old box of Hornby rails and a carriage or two while looking for plywood. Also came across some newspapers from 1950s, and a box of washers that might come in handy ... Potted up some bare-rooted perennials in the shed with a bit of Radio4, thinking about a little fan heater for those chilly days. Would a kettle be OTT?!?

Made a cauldron of potato (bought from farm shop) and leek (from garden) soup for a few days lunches.

Postman delivered my new Screwfix catalogue, sadly this has made my day. :o

Get yourself a Kelly Kettle, you build a fire of twigs in the bottom, it has a flue that goes up the middle.

      Kelly Kettle - Greenman Bushcraft

Ideal for burning the shed down:heehee:

I've got ducted TV aerial & telephone extensions running into my shed and I've got a pager for the front door bell. The only trouble is the little portable TV now also needs a Freeview box and despite having a spare one it's a lot of hassle to set up.

Got one of those, but can get a bit smoky, even under the gazebo when Mrs Scrungee goes all frugal about electricity use.

Is that sadder than spending the whole evening browsing shoe sites on line, then not buying any?

Aha! I saw someone using one once and have always wanted one but didn't know what it was called. £35 new on Ebay, wonder if I could get one for less? Endless hours of pyromaniac fun to be had with that little bit of kit!

I think I'll pass on the self-destructing kettle as my shed has been standing for quite a few decades and I'd like to keep it that way.

I do think there is something a bit special and perhaps obsessive about sheds for blokes and blokesses as you say Madahhlia.

Don't think the Hornby stuff is complete or nice enough for ebay, though you do get all manner of tat on there, so perhaps. I did find one of those portable seats, not sure what it's called, like an elongated T with a spike in the bottom and a leather/canvas mini seat that folds out. Quite old and in a bad way, but you can tell the workmanship was top notch when new.

Spend the day with the hump, footling around getting nothing done except cleaning out the gutters. Tomorrow, as they say, is another day ...
