I watched the first episode of Birdsong last night and thought that it was class.
The Wallander series is superb, but of the three I prefer the ones with Krister Henriksson.
Then there was The Killing, and my current favourite, Borgen.
The Shadowline last year was the best British drama in ages (right up there with The Edge Of Darkness and State of Play).
And tomorrow (2nd Feb) The Singing Detective starts its re-run on BBC Four.

But there is so much that I would not miss...............

        Don't care.

Grumpy old men shouting at and insulting each other. There's a pub not too far from me where I can watch that live almost any time I like.

Got myself a couple of gardens, my own piece of countryside, and the coast and the moors within 10 minutes drive.

        Got a couple of them.

Jeremy Kyle is only on when I'm normally at work.

One of the many programs that makes me want to either hurl myself from the roof, disembowel myself on a rusty six inch nail, or removed my own eyes with sharpened bamboo canes and stub lit cigarettes out in my ears.

Got a HiFi. It plays CDs and tapes and the radio, and it is connected to a purpose built media computer.

        Got t'interweb

Got Redcar racecourse 15 minutes walk away.

Of the many thousands made, I think I can count on one hand the ones I like.

I think I got one of them somewhere.

The main drinking strip is only half an hour's walk from my house and there's a young 'lady' who lives somewhere in my neighbourhood (see her passing quite often) who likes to adjust her knickers in public when the weather is warm. I can see that live more or less any time I like.

Just the sound of the theme tune does that to me.

Blimey roders, you certainly get your money's worth from the licence fee!

I'm the other extreme now, no TV for me. I used to think people without TVs were a bit weird, but having given it up I have found so many better things to do like reading and gardening. I can see the news/weather on the BBC web site and sometimes watch things like gardeners world on iplayer, at least I can fast forward past the boring bits. The great thing is having so much extra time, allows me to be self-righteous (Clare! :))

Comes in handy at work though when people want to spend half and hour going over their previous nights viewing  I can claim complete ignorance and I guess that comes across as being weird :dbgrtmb:

Were there any? I very rarely watched television anyway, just a documentary here and there. My other half watched everything, including the rubbish, but he doesn't miss it now either. It took us about a month to get used to it not being here. :)

Jiffy, apparently the tv licence doesn't include radio now and I only listen to that in the car anyway. You only need a licence for the computer if you are watching programmes live. But that doesn't bother me either as I don't watch tv on it. :)

I only watch tv in the winter except for the F1,and now that has its own channel on Sly and is on for longer not sure what to do if we have a hot summer before I didn't mind on a Sunday watching 3 hrs live but what they are offering now is so much more coverage.
Not only do I have the TV for the main show I run a 19" tv along side for the incar stuff and the pc for live timing and laptop for the forum! So it makes quite an event but can only be done live.
