Do not worry, even if they said Oh you can have them
There is no way I can get a cubic meter tank in the back of me Skoda :-(

Re : the foundations Kaz, why not just bury it & use a pond pump to pump the water back up?

I used one to pump the water out of the underpinning trenches on the house. They slot onto a hosepipe with no problem, then you just lob the whole thing in the water.

But if you can raise them up then gravity is working for you, rather than against you?

Too true my friend, I was only considering Kaz's lack of growing space. The need to maximise the availble area.

There are a few rainwater recovery systems that use underground storage tanks.

i have read that they dont hold up well to being buried due to stress on plastic if empty ...... but you have me thinking now what if i dug out and lined said hole then instead on earthing back on top just had a trapdoor over it like decking style if you know what i mean, and the pump i wouldnt have to have that on all the time would i, litrally just when i needed it  mmmmm decisions decisions

          Lol:D

This is probably getting into a silly amount of work now. Best leave it above ground & put some plant pots on top.

I had a look at the tanks designed to go underground, they are about £1600:cry3: Might be worth it if you were on a water meter & were planning on staying there a long time.
