After the demise of my old printer this last week, other half and I invested in a new one yesterday and I decided, with no idea what I was doing to install it today.

The new one is wireless and I new I would be in for 'fun and games'.

So eight long hours on it's up and running. Why? Nothing to do with the installation, nothing to do with my abilities with machinery, but the failure of both my other half and I to remember where we safely stored the router security number.

All those hours searching through drawers, cupboards, boxes etc. and it was in the one place other half said it wouldn't be, in our neatly kept Appliance box file where I keep all the paperwork for, yes, appliances and anything else that comes under a similar genre. :wallbang:

Just google the make of the router with "default password" at the end of it... You might get lucky :)

Yes Ziggy, It is a Kodak. If you're thinking about their financial issues it's not a problem. It's only their camera and film side they are folding apparently.

That's good news Sheal, I keep mine sellotaped to the bottom of the darn thing:heehee: usually they have a manual way to hard reset them in the event of password loss which will reset everything back to the manfactuers default:thumbsup:

I heard it was the paper making side that was folding.

Biggest pile of tree i've ever wasted my money on. Despite ink changes & print head cleaning, it would print off half a colour ink cartridge just doing a test print & then still wouldn't print a document.

Wireless worked for a day or two then stopped. Installed drivers again, still wouldn't print or go wireless.

Oh, scanned for a few goes then stopped altogether.

Got an Advent A10 for £20, no probs with that at all.

I have a cheap Epson Stylus SX130 from Argos and it does the job, the good thing about Epsons is that the printers are usually cheap (I think mine was £27?) and then you can switch to compatible inks which cost about £5 for a full set:WINK1:

Couldn't have got my Epson D92 any cheaper. It was collecting dust on the bottom shelf of the shop, no box, no handbook, no driver disk. I offered to relieve them of the trouble of dumping it - freebie . Have had it years and it's used every day.

Just bought 12 black cartridges online for £14 and they also fit my Epson SX400

Hmmmm.....thanks for the info Ziggy. I'll just have to wait and see how it performs. My old one was an Epson and the reason we didn't go for another one was because the build seems so flimsy now and the ink cartridges are quite expensive. Also we know the chap that sold the Kodak to us and he said not to touch the Epsons now.

              Time will tell. :)

I have to ask why you needed a router password to instal a printer?

I know less than nothing about computerabubbles so when I had to buy an all new singing, dancing printer/scanner/copier/teamaker thingumybob a couple of weeks ago (and found the cable from the old one didn't fit) I merely clicked 'Yes' to the 'Do you want a wireless connection' question and the whole thing was up and working in less time than it took to extract it from the box - and HP aren't exactly noted for their detailed instruction leaflets.
