    Hi

Last year we decided that if we could not have a cottage by the lake, we would have to create our own oasis in our backyard. In the images below you can see our larger pond, the white sand beach and the stones and boulders used to border the water feature. It was a lot of work but well worth it!! Let me know what you think.

    That is absolutely brilliant!

I'd sit outside there even in the rain!

[IMG] Doris..... That is beautiful..!! :luv: I love the Caribbean & we have a cottage on Jamaica... You absolutely have to get some Hibiscus, Bouganvillea & Croton plants as they are all over the Caribbean..!! If you want a tree The Seaside Mahoe (Thespesia populnea) is gorgeous when in bloom.. Not sure if these will over winter where you are but al in my Caribbean garden & more.... :thumb: Look forward to seeing you around..:thumb:

Don't think those plants would quite survive the prairie winters that dorismccomb has!
I commented on your website on your intro post - soooooo jealous it looks so relaxing!

You are quite right Natalie. The plants would not survive our winters, however I could take them inside for the winter and then outside in the spring.
Thanks Marley for the plant suggestions. I have visited Jamaica and fell in love!
My backyard is a work in progress and as I continue I will post pictures for all to see and I hope you enjoy my efforts. In the mean time here is a picture of my almost frozen waterfall. Last October we had a sudden snowfall and thank goodness I had my camera close by. The snow melted 2 days later.
Can you see my frozen Marigolds in the forefront?
