Hi, just joined this fab forum, am glad to have found it. :)

I wondered if anyone could advise...

I have owned an Amelanchier for the past few years, it produced some wonderful flowers and fruit in 2009. After the shocking winter of 2010 it failed to produce anything in 2011 and gradually lost 80% of its foliage. Leaves went a rusty reddy brown and died in no time. Its in a 75 litre pot to contain it but do feed and water appropriately. I was going to take it out but am waiting to see how it is this spring.

Is there anything I should try with it.?

It's not possible for me to put in the ground really as the back garden is small. The pot faces against the bungalow and conservatory and faces North getting very little direct sunlight.

I presumed that it would be ok as a location for it. Should I give more sunlight to help it?

    ggg

    Hello green green grass,

I recently bought an amelanchier, so i will be interested to see what people say.

The main thing i do know about amelanchiers are that they hate lime, so when you do water it then don't use tap water only rain water as otherwise it will die (very slowly). This may be the reason why it's looking poorly.

It also likes full sun and a non windy site.

I'm sure others will have a better idea about what could be causing it.
    Good luck
