My new Camellias have arrived

So now I have the following to plant out :

    Five Camellias
    Six Clematis
    One Lonicera
    One Ceanothus
    Two Sarcococca confusa
    One Magnolia

    On order :

    Three Daphnes

To relocate (off the top of my head) :

    Three Rhododendrons
    Two Elaeagnus
    Approx ten dwarf Rhodos
    Two Escallonias
    One Skimmia japonica Rubella

Think that's enough to be going on with.

Before I even get to the planting out I need to aerate the lawns and give them a bit of tlc (so that the back one fills out again by end March and I can let the dogs back on).

I've also got to lay a path and dig up the roots of a 50 year old rose and a small apple tree.

Incidentally it was so warm here yesterday that I turned the heating off last night  Stroll on spring! :sunny:

I've been up since 5am wishing it was light enough to get outside and start shoving a fork in the lawn in my jammies :heehee:

    :gardening:

PS : Bought a tiny Magnolia Susan last night from Mozzas. Should I plant it out now or should I keep it in a pot until it gets bigger (it's a skinny stem about 18 inches long at the moment)?

I can relate to this!!! I have LOADS of stuff that wants planting, moving, or dividing. I did about 6 hours yesterday and barely scratched the surface. I might catch up if I had a month of lovely days like we had yesterday.
I have my magnolia Susan in a pot on the patio. In the ground somewhere sheltered might be better for yours since it's so small.

Please be aware that the change in temperature is but an indicator of spring not actual spring.
If I were you I would not be to hastey and hold back for a while.
Do what canbe done and wait a while for the rest to catch up.

I think we're all aware that there could still be frost and I don't suppose anyone means they are going to rush right out this minute and do everything - it was a thread about how excited we are that spring is on its way.

Is this the best time to divide stuff? I have a couple of Campanulas I want to spread around the garden.

I'd say yes Kyle, if it's done now it'll give the plants a chance to get their roots down before spring brings on their top growth. :)

With the exception of Escallonia, those plants are very frost hardy and would not be damaged by the light frosts you get in Spring. The sun is starting to warm up the ground now anyway, and they would benefit more from being in a relatively warm ground, rather than a pot if frost did hit.
