    Here's what all of our fencing looks like round the whole of the rear garden;

    My question is, how do I go about cleaning it up prior to re treating?

    Thanks for reading :)

    A gentle jet wash will sort that out. Too much pressure though and you can damage the wood so start further away and move closer as required.

    What will you be treating with?

      If only I had a jet wash!

      Only got as far as deciding I was going to do it this morning whilst enjoying the peace and quite before the kids awoke so haven't even looked at what's to go on it yet! Any suggestions?

      Depends if you want a natural finish or not. I use oil for a natural finish as it nourishes and protects the wood. It needs reapplying quite often though but if your wood cleans well you'll get a nice finish after applying oil.

      If you want colour the majority of the well known brands do the job nicely. I used Ronseal Dark Oak? on my fences and it's held it's colour well, it's taken about 6 years to get to the stage where they could be spruced up.

      (which I could do today now thanks to this thread :heehee:)
