I used poly pipe and netting (I'm in the building trade) and they just throw stuff in the skip, and I take it out and use it (and timber scaffold planks ect) the stuff that gets chucked out and skipped is unbelievable, but if I have a use for it I will take it, I have 6 X 20kg of sea weed fertiliser they just didn't want because they had too much of it, went on to the back of my truck and down to the allotment right away!!

Free wood for the gate, (off cuts) I NOW HAVE ENOUGH FREE WOOD FOR A SHED AND DECKING, even the blue plastic, they needed hi viz orange so it was going to be thrown out, gloves tools, shovels picks, wheelbarrows, the list is endless, i save them on ££ for skips so they dont mind, they even put stuff aside for me now, i made a BBQ last year out of saved bricks, and I have a Indian Stone (not concrete the real stuff) paving in my back garden

I could go on and on, but what have you got that was free??

    First of all, jammy git:D

I was well pleased when I found a load of washed up bust fishing net down the beach the other, which is going to be used for my peas to climb up.

There's some builders working on a house just round the corner from me. I think they must be completely gutting it. I'm trying to pluck up the courage to go and pinch some of the reusable timber out of the skip.

You have to ask or its stealing just ask they will give it to you gladly, it empty's their skip for them, then they can put more in it, a skip costs £100 a time down south, and that's for ordinary waste, so your doing them a favour

I am on the lookout for netting too lol

How could I forget this one. I have a mate who is a roofer who strangely, despite being a roofer, comes by all sorts of rubbish not just relating to roof work.

Last year when I was building my new patio and I realised I didn't have enough hardcore kicking about for the foundation, I phoned my mate and told him what was up.

A few days later, I was arriving home from work to find someone had dumped a load of sacks on my drive. They were full of old gravel and busted roof tiles and slates. That sorted my foundation out for my patio. By chance, when I first bought my house, there was loads of bricks and bust flag stones in the garden. All I had to buy for it was the sand and cement. Sadly not posh stone, but I'm happy with it:)

The best I get from the motor trade is bubble wrap - lots of it!
