Just picked up an email saying my new mixed native hedging is arriving... today!
I'm quite excited. 50 plants (10 of each) of blackthorn, spindle, hawthorn, dog rose and hazel to replace a rotting set of fence panels :)

Any room for a couple of crab apples, damsons or elderberries for winemaking later on? And for our birdy chums! Cheers, Tony.

That's a good move, loofah. It might take some time for the hedging to establish but when it does it should look great, plus the wildlife will love it.

Already have the crab apples and elderberries! Figured I'd stick with the sloes from the blackthorn for now;)

It's all planted up now so really looking forward to see how well it goes:)

I really like the natural hedgerow look, sounds grand, any chance of a photo or two??

Last year I planted a mixed evergreen hedge instead of the more traditional options at the front of the house ... seems to have settled and hopefully fill in this year but I'm sitting on the fence a bit :WINK1:

It sounds great, Loofah, I'd love to have a natural hedgerow but sadly it's not a viable proposition in my garden so I disguise the fencing with climbers (mostly clematis).

Think I'll wait until it develops a bit more before photos - it's just medium size twigs at the moment lol
