My courgettes & Aubergines

    They have just started to poke there heads out of the compost, there on my windowsill, the first big plant I have ever grown, in the poly i have loads of lettuce starting up tom thumb & Paris island cos & cabbage are all poking there heads up as well, this year (this is my first full year on the allotment) is going to be great, I just hope this hose pipe ban wont spoil it all, im very exited, i know to you guys its an every day thing, but coming form London its not the kinda thing you see or do

    Early for courgettes ? They'll be huge and hard to manage by the time its safe to plant out. They (and squash in general) hate the cold, so even when you get to "no more frosts" planting them out then is likely to make them just sulk ... I usually pot them on and resit planting them out until 1st June, or even 14th June - although planting out using a Cloche or somesuch would probably be a better idea, now I come to think of it!

    Well I can keep them in the polly I guess, that would be OK wouldn't it? My wife picks them with the flower still on and stuffs the flowers with rice (she's from Cyprus) so it wont get too big before we eat them
