There have been threads similar to this in the past, but I thought I'd give this a go.
Are you superstitious or do you carry a lucky charm?

I can't say that I am really, but there are a couple of things.
I bought a St Christopher to stick on the dash board of my first car and that has been in every car since. On the two occasions it wasn't in my car I had minor accidents.

Secondly, I live on an island of superstitions, and the one here I abide by is the use/or non use in my case of the word r-a-t. Here they are known as long-tails and if you mention the other word in front of a Manx person, they will hold there collar and whistle. In fact I've got so used to not saying r-a-t I can't bring myself to say it at all. On the forum here I will usually spell it out. Daft I know! :)

    Never whistle on a ship
The superstition part is it may whistle up the wind, (sailing boat days) modern, it can confuse the whistles used for orders (even today)
My take on it is, the whistler is totally off key and it is terrible to the ears, causing annonyance to others

On a fishing boat never mention Rabbits, No idea why
    Though I observe both

No, I refuse to be superstitious, my Mum was very superstitious and it often caused arguments if I did anything which is supposed to be 'unlucky'!!
