I have heard that Armillatox (outdoor cleaner) can be used as a winter
wash for fruit trees! Anyone any knowledge about this?

I used Armillatox pre-2003 as a soil drench and it was brilliant stuff. Back then, you could also use it as a winter wash but November was the recommended month, rather than February which is really early spring.

In 2003, European regulations required manufacturers of insecticides to review their products and this wasn't affordable for small companies. Armillatox therefore changed its designation and you'll need to check what it can now be used for. Try Googling it.

If you do end up spraying your fruit trees, use a proper mask and full protective gear. It's a messy job.

Jeyes fluid was also used as a winter wash, but EU regs as per Flinty's reply had the same effect on it as on Armillatox.
It would be quite wrong of me to suggest that it still works. So I won't, as using it would be in breach of regulations.

There are too many rules and regulations comming out of Brussels, ( possibly to keep themselves in work ).

I use Armilatox for cleaning and other uses, sorry can't tell you what, no change here.

    ' Hi Hedgehog

To heck with the snivilling PC brigrade, use it as it was intended for to be used for!

I still have some proper insecticides and fungicides from the old days which I use very sparingly to prolong the use of same.

Don't care if they came and haul me off to goal, they are all crooks on the make, making a good living from it as well!

    Cheers!

Crickey that was quick, a load of cops have arrived at the door accomplied by the usual head bangers, climate change nutters, organic don't use peat bleeters, RSPB magpies don't kill small birds deniers, and the council snoopers, don't put "that"in "that box lot!

Oh well! it's off to the salt mines for me, after all the councils have run out off road salt!
