    Dear all,

I'd be very grateful if anyone could tell me which privacy screening allows the most light through, wilow, reed, bamboo, brushwood, etc.?

    Net curtains...

Sorry, that wasn't helpful! Are you looking for evergreen or deciduous screening? Length and height of screen?

Thanks for the reply. If only it were as easy as net curtains. I stupidly thought I didn't need planning permission for a roof deck but I do and may have to take down 5 grand worth of work. If I can obscure the view without blocking light prior to my application I stand a better chance. I know that evergreen screening doesn't need planning, but it's very expensive. I need to cover 5 metres each side about 2 metres high. I was hoping I could use the slatted screening rolls that are 2 metres high and about 3 metres long that you can buy from Wilkinsons or Argos, but I may need planning permission to use these. Any advice on another solution that isn't too expensive would be highly appreciated.

Oh boy, that's a bitter pill to swallow! I would suggest a mixed native hedge, and you might get them bare root still (it's cheaper) if you're very quick, the down side is that it's a deciduous solution. My only other offering would be for trellis atop a fence with evergreen clematis or other climbers over it.
    Best of luck!
