The bloodmobile is visiting our office today, in exchange for a pint of blood, I got a lay down for 15 minutes in work time; a nice chat to a couple of nurses and as much free tea and biscuits as I could eat without appearing too greedy (which in my shameless case is a lot).

Do it if you can folks for the benefit of others, not like me just because of the free crisps.

haha, yes, if your own health can allow you to do it - it's a great thing. We never know when we may need to be on the receiving end :) So.....were you 'talking to' the nurses, or 'chatting them up'? hehe

Thanks Natalie, well it's been so long since I tried, but if small talk about holidays, the weather and how many sugars in my tea constitutes chatting up then yes :lollol:

I didn't do it regulary when I was younger, I worked abroad a lot and the locations/time of the sessions were not always convienent when I was back home. In my current job the bloodmobile parks outside our office so there is no excuse for those of us that are able. I'm going to miss the ease of this when I leave in a couple of months.

Hi John, that's great to hear :)
Unfortunately I cannot give blood [medical issues] but I certainly would if I could. Thankyou.

27 pints was my tally and then I had to give up because I had a blood transfusion and these days they won't let you donate any more after that.

I know you would if you could Jazmine. I feel a bit guilty I missed out giving when I was younger - I was unable to find time - poor excuse really.

Not bad Hec, you've done your bit.

Hec that is a terrific job done there :)

I don't know if you are allowed to give blood while taking any type of medication?
Luckily I have never needed a blood transfusion either but know people who have had one.

I sometimes feel a bit guilty too but I know I would give if I could (can't say I would enjoy it though)

Jazmine; I'm no expert but I think it depends on what sort of medication and how long ago you took it, there is a form to tick about any medications and even if you've had vaccinations or been in contact with people that have or you have been abroad to certain countries then they go into a bit more detail.
