Can anyone help ID this weed and, more importantly, how to stop it growing/spreading. It's all over my borders. Neighbours have volunteered suggestions that it might be Chickweed, Hemlock, Leafy wild carrot etc but I need you experts!! PC115444.JPG

agree with above , i had some self seed in my garden and it was a bit of a nightmare to get rid of , in hindsight i should have not let it flower, it was easy to pull out but it was everywhere

Yes SS is right, it is only what I call "top weed" & is removed easily.. I have an area in one corner where I let it grow & do it's own thing as it is so pretty in flower.. It self seeds like mad so I do pull all but a couple of my plants as soon as they have flowered so I do get a few the next year, but then I love my wild flowers too :WINK1:

According to one of my books it used to be grown as a cure for toothache but I don't think I'd try it. Like everyone else, I find it easy to remove but almost impossible to get rid of as it does seed easily. Haven't noticed a smell though, is there more than one variety?

The white flowered version is G. robertianum celticum.
