No Armandii, it seems to have improved over the last half an hour or so. I'll give the pictures another go now. Thanks. :)

Still having a slight problem, so I will split the pictures over two posts.

More pictures of the Clematis. They are slightly out of focus as I had a breeze to contend with. I studied my pictures after taking them and compared them with the actual plant, the colour is pretty much spot on. The flowers are 2 1/2 inches across maximum when fully open. :)

        Lovely flower Sheal.

I will ask my daughter to identify - she worked for Thorncoft Clematis Specialist
Growers and regularly helps them at Chelsea Flower Show (winning several Golds).

She usually knows the names at first look!

It is a nice Clematis isn't it!! Well, after comparing different pics of another clematis from closed flower, half open flower, open flower, from the top, bottom, side, petal arrangement and shape, and leaf shape, I'm more than sure it's a Clematis Macropetala:thumbsup::snork:

Thanks everyone for your extra attention to this one. Armandii in particular having been nagged into it. :heehee:

Armandii, I'm inclined to agree with your Id, but I wish it had a simpler name to pronounce. :)

If you're all prepared to wait, I will see what I can do on the seed and cuttings front, so there may be some on offer later in the year. I'll keep you informed.

By the way, that huge log it's trying to grow up is actually a telegraph pole in the middle of the bed which I've put supports round. It has a street light at the top as well, so I can garden at night if necessary. Well until 12.30am when it goes out. :heehee:

Well, it sounds happy enough where it's growing, Sheal!! You're more than welcome regarding the id and it's got me back into Clematis seriously as I've just bought two Clematis Mrs Bateman today.!!

            Hi Sheal
Got in touch with the grower himself at Thorncroft and this was his reply--

Thorncroft Clematis: Hi there! I believe it is a macropetala type
            called 'Wesselton'

Thanks, that's very kind jjordie, for such a small delicate flower it certainly has a big name. :)
