    Hi All,
these things (see attached image) keep turning up in my kitchen and eat all the flowers off my orchids.
They're pretty docile and move slowly but sneeky. They tend to hide between the leaves and petals of the flowers their munching on.

    Any ideas?

That was puzzling me although I couldn't make out the striations as much as I wanted. It's obviously in the same family though.:snork:

Vine weevil!!!! Kill it!! Kill em ALL!!! They will lay eggs in the soil and the grubs will eat the roots and you won't know anything is wrong until the plant DIES. Horrible things!

provado vine weevil killer 2 will sort the ones in the soil

it's a thick white liquid that you dilute with water ... I've recently used this on the the Huechera that I have planted after reading that vine weevils have an appetite for them

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=provado vine weevil killer 2&rlz=1W1ADFA_enGB466&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&wrapid=tlif133490610014010&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=9759206974644860729&sa=X&ei=BA2RT4_NCYGW8gPP7ujDBA&ved=0CG0Q8wIwAA#

    I bought mine from B&Q

    edit:
I just read that Provado vine weevil killer 2 is not effective on outdoor plants (planted in the ground/garden) and only works for potted plants

Oh well .... £10 wasted .... it helps to read the label

Mouses like the grubs and the beetles, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside.

Thank you all! Now I know what it is I've got a chance dealing with it.
No idea how I got them but I'm guessing one of the houseplants I've been given must have had eggs in it.
