Fungi indentification

Right I've had these pics a while now and would love to know more about them. Now I finally found this place, wehey! I might just find out.

Had a fascination for them for years but never took it any further. Someone got me a small book on them for christmas but it doesn't say if they are poisonious or not. We get wild Chanterelle mushrooms up here and would love to know more types that I can eat. So here goes.

Right first things first

now onto the good bit

#1 is maybe a Panther Cap
#2 some kind of Mycena?
#3 Earth Ball?
#4 Clitocybe?
#5 dunno
#6 yellow stags horn?

 

Just don't eat any of them is all I can say.

From what I've learnt so far, a photo is not enough to make a positive ID. The same species can look very different depending on its stage of growth and other factors, and to make matters worse, perfectly harmless ones can match the description of very deadly ones. Just do a google search for 'field mushrooms' and for 'death cap' and you'll see what I mean. The latter, as its name suggests, is extremely poisonous and there is no known antidote, just death.

 

Did a search like you suggested. I'm amazed at the diferent variety of death cap. I think I can honestly say that hardly any of the pictures looked similar. Some were red some were a creamy colour and there was even a green one

Think you're right! Think I'll stay away from all of them.

I'd need a closer look but I think 4 could be the Fairy Ring Champignon.

Were they growing in rings about July/August?

 

I don't recall them being in a circle. All I know is that they are from a part of my garden I don't venture into much as there are too many Adders over there. I would not have been over there in july/ August. I'll go check when the pic was taken.

They were taken on 29/09. Also at the top of the Glen not sure of exact height but I think it's 285m above sea level if that helps.

 

Thats probably a bit late for them then, usually a summer fruiting fungi.
