Lovely plants my neighbours have

Hi - I've been looking for ideas for plants/ climbers that bring a bit of colour earlier in the year and that would work in our area and have seen these lovely plants in my street.

The pink one is a little past it's best already but is still lovely - my new neighbour equally doesn't know what it is so would be pleased to find out! Would a cutting work or do I need to buy a baby bush?

The blue one is fabulous. A long-term project I'm guessing but well worth the effort.

Wisteria are beautiful ,but to get one to that height and trained along like that requires a little patience,more years than I have left anyway

 

They say 7 years for a wisteria to flower but you can buy them already a few years old, my neighbour's flowered in its second year so we guessed it must have been at least 5 when she bought it. It does need a strong support but once it's established it will last for generations.

 

When we lived in Eire we used to travel occasionally to Tipperary, (long way), and along a stretch of road on the journey was a house set back from the road.It had a balcony running along the bedrooms and it was smothered with wisteria,a glorious sight that made the journey enjoyable.

 

We had Wisteria on the wall in my school and I loved it. There was also a beautiful Magnolia but the Biology teacher always told us that when the Magnolia came into flower it was time to revise for exams so I always hoped for a late spring. Saw a new miniature Wisteria at the garden centre today, was tempted until I saw the price tag £34.99.

 

I`ve got a 5/6 years old wisteria and never flowered , growned from seed and then found out that it maybe not be a true species as wisteria are grafted, anyway, today I`ve seen one of the miniature wisteria and was really upset to the fact that at 3/4 feet tall already have flower , well the price made me think , a 5/6 years old wisteria can be bough for £25 while the miniature was at £35 at homebase and £40 at B&Q
