    It looks like Crocosmia to me -assuming it's come up from nothing to this over the past couple of months. There would have been some dead foliage at the root over winter and, if it wasn't removed, will probably still be visible.

    Agree with Bilbo definitely Carex Pendula or weeping sedge, I have it in my garden and it is a very prolific seeder, mines just started flowering too.

    I would go with the 'Sedge', can tend to seed everywhere ..

    "Pendulous Sedge" seeds everywhere, well, not everywhere, but you know what I mean. When you decide to remove it, tis a begger to dig up. Cheers, Tony.

    Hi, thanks it is exactly what you said the sedge thing, it has the rough leaves too. i dont want it there and will did it up before I cant!

    I've just pulled all the seed heads off the sedge in our (newish) front garden so it doesn't spread any more. I'm steeling myself to dig the whole plant out as last time I dug one up, I broke a fork!
