My internet is with BT, a while ago I upgraded my router courtesy of BT. This router came with some "all singing all dancing" software.
This software "finds and fixes faults" But it my case it finds faults that don't exist and repairs them (well, so it says) and on occasion (like just now) finds a fault, that I can not see, that it can not fix, and sometimes it even asks what router I have and still cant fix a fault I don't have.

So my questions are, has anyone on here got BT interweb? and if so do you have this software that fixes things that still work, or have you ever come across something else that is a as good?

I suppose its like the Russians who once invented a cure for which there is no disease.

Fell out with BT big time. I'm with Virgin now, not had any problems apart from slowness.

I'm with TalkTalk and haven't really had any issues.
Last week I got a phone call from "Talk Talk Technical" telling me I had a speed issue and wanted to send an Engineer round the following day. I t wasn't convenient and we couldn't agree an alternative date that was acceptable to them so opted to forego the visit.
I then emailed talkTalk and queried the original call - also advising them that, as yet I hadn't received any Router from them since they took over Tiscali, despite significant increase in speed of connection.
End result - new router in the post and a review and improvement of the Contract agreement, saving me money as well. Hopefully I will benefit from the new speeds once the router arrives. No more GC hangups? We'll see.

Am still with BT and have a BT hub. We never installed the software that came with it. If theres a problem we just reset it (wireless button at the back, held in for 20 seconds, if yours has that) or unplug it at the mains for 10 seconds.

Ditto. Unopened CD still in the router box.

Same with me. They sent me the hub v2.0 about a year ago. Two months ago I got around to removing hub v1.0 and just plugged in v2.0. There were a few differences that I had to work out (old one didn't have an ethernet connection  ) but when I plugged it into the computer it just lit up and worked. I didn't even bother to see whether there was a CD in the box.

I may sound rather casual about it but I had an experienced friend standing alongside me :) - he said that I shouldn't need any driver. Works perfectly and no messages :dbgrtmb:.

They also sent me an 'Accelerator' to replace the BT phone box where the line comes into the house. They said it would speed up the connection. This is the box that is usually in the hall where the line comes in. In my case, it isn't there but up in the loft - so I haven't bothered.

Talking of routers - I got a gadget to boost our mobile signal which is non-existent in the house. I didn't realise until after I bought it that I needed a router with more than one port to to plug the booster in to.(ours only has one). A "friend" gave me a spare one. My computer guy spent a couple of ours (and I spent quite a bit) discovering that it was useless. So now we have an unused gadget and still no signal.
So, if anyone's got a spare 4 port router, that works....?!:ThankYou:
